Wheel of Fun Delights: Our Week in Mom Magic and Learning Extravaganza!

Hey fabulous mama pals! Welcome back to Who’s the Mom – your go-to spot for all things mom-tastic! Today’s edition is like the sequel to a blockbuster movie – we’re diving into the aftermath of our first week with the Wheel of Fun! If you’ve been keeping up with the blog, you’ve probably caught wind of the whys and how`s behind the creation of this wheel of wonders. And now, brace yourselves for the inside scoop on how it played out in my crazy, wonderful family.

For you newbies in our mom tribe, a big, warm welcome! Feel free to catch up on the madness in my recent posts, like “Adding a New Hat to the Collection: Balancing Work and Homeschool,” and “DIY Homeschool Wheel of Fun and Spin & Learn Weekly Adventure – The Fun that is Cooked up After Dinner!” These posts will bring you up to speed and have you chuckling in no time.

So, picture this: it’s the Sunday before a whirlwind work week, and this mom is on a mission to get her ducks in a row. After we’ve tidied up dinner, it’s time to unleash the Wheel of Fun upon our unsuspecting family of five. We gather around the table, and when I say “gather,” I mean more like a controlled chaos – think less of a tea party and more like a tornado touchdown, minus the extreme severity (well, mostly). But hey, that’s the beauty of family life, right?

Now, if you’ve laid eyes on the Spin and Learn Weekly Adventure printable, you’ll notice it generously spans from Monday to Sunday. Call me ambitious, but this week we decided to keep the antics confined to Monday through Friday. First up, my eldest takes the inaugural spin, landing on “Storytelling” for Monday. Cue a hilarious reimagining of the old lady who swallowed a fly, now swapping flies for leaves in a fall-themed storytelling extravaganza. Printable fun and laughter ensued, making it a hit with all four kiddos.

Tuesday brought us my second-born, spinning the wheel straight into “Health.” Perfect timing, considering the season of sniffles and sneezes. We kicked things off with a pre-germ dance-off, delving into proper handwashing etiquette with the help of a germ-focused book. To cap it off, we unleashed our artistic sides, creating our own germ masterpieces. Because, you know, who doesn’t want to immortalize germs on paper?

Middle little commandeered Wednesday’s spin, leading us into the realm of “Science.” After donning our scientist hats and conducting experiments on everything from dirty hands to dad’s laptop, we set up our very own science observatory. No visible bacterial growth yet, but the anticipation of daily checks has the kids buzzing with excitement.

Thursday’s musical interlude came courtesy of my littlest one, who chose “Music.” Determined to turn my brood into recorder virtuosos, we kicked off with a crash course in music basics and instrument knowledge via YouTube. Post-lesson, I spilled the beans about our upcoming recorder sessions, and the excitement was palpable. A successful night of musical exploration!

Finally, Friday arrived, and my oldest, with a dramatic spin, landed on “Game.” While my original game plan took a detour, the evening took an unexpected turn as we delved into a lively round of guessing baby pictures. Flexibility, my friends—that’s why we love homeschool life. We laughed, reminisced, and ended the week on a high note.

So, what’s the verdict on the Wheel of Fun? Drumroll, please—we had a blast Having a pre-planned activity each evening jazzed up our family time and added a dash of extra knowledge to our homeschool routine. If you’re on the lookout for a delightful way to sneak in some learning after dinner, I’m waving the DIY flag high, I wholeheartedly recommend it! So, prep those DIY supplies, give that wheel a spin, and let the learning (and laughter) commence! Happy spinning and learning, fellow moms!
