End of the year Homeschool Jeopardy game

Hey all my Homeschool Mamas!

Can you believe another year is coming to a end? If you’re anything like me, you’re gearing up for those end-of-year tests and reviews. This year, I decided to shake things up a bit and add a dash of excitement to our routine with a game. And not just any game – a learning game! A  fun and engaging way to review the year’s curriculum and see just how much our homeschool kiddos have absorbed. Today, I’m thrilled to share with you all the details on how to transform the classic Jeopardy game into the ultimate Homeschool Jeopardy Edition.

Here’s how we turned the classic Jeopardy game into the ultimate homeschooling experience:

Step 1: Gather Your Materials

Materials can be found on Amazon by clicking the links above. I may earn a small commission for qualified purchases.

Step 2: Craft Your Questions

Using our curriculum materials as inspiration, I used the Complete Curriculum series Grade 1 and Grade 3 in addition to  Building Spelling Skills books also Grade 1 and Grade 3. Combined they came in handy for generating  grade specific questions in similar categories . Pro tip: if you’re ever stuck  for inspiration, Chat GPT is a fantastic resource for brainstorming ideas.

I divided our questions into eight Categories: Reading, Spelling, Math, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Miscellaneous Facts, and for an extra fun twist, Lego Trivia! (because everything’s better with Legos.). For each section, I crafted two sets of questions – one tailored to my first grader’s level and the other suited for my third grader, Why the distinction? Well, in the world of homeschooling, one size definitely does not fit all! By customizing the questions to each child’s grade level, we ensure that everyone gets a fair shot at showcasing their knowledge while being able to play the game together.

Step 3: Set Up Your Game Board

Our game board features eight columns of five questions each, covering a range of subjects from Reading Skills to Lego Trivia. In traditional Jeopardy, contestants are awarded  points based on question difficulty. But in our Homeschool Edition, we’re shaking things up with Homeschool Dollar Bucks – Download your Homeschool Dollar Bucks Here. At the end of the game, these bucks can be cashed in for special prizes.

Step 4: Let the Games Begin

Now  time to dive into the fun!  The contestants that will be  playing  will be my third grader and first grader, but feel free to customize the game to fit your family size. Gameplay is simple. A homeschooler selects a category and Homeschool Dollar Buck  value, then tackles the corresponding grade level question in that section.  If they answer correctly, they earn points for that question. Correct answers earn them those awesome  Homeschool Dollars, while incorrect responses mean saying  farewell to those bucks. Once all questions have been answered, add up the bucks and cash in for prizes galore! Download your free Prize Template here.

Step 5: Keep Score and Cash In

As the game progressed, our homeschoolers earned their Bucks with each correct answer. At the end of the game, they cashed in their Bucks’  Homeschool  bucks. Homeschool Dollar bucks can be cashed in for special prizes. We’ve had everything from Root Beer Float Parties to Outdoor Movie Nights – the possibilities are endless! Just the ticket for celebrating a year of hard work and learning.

Step 6: Celebrate Learning

And just like that, our end-of-year review transformed into a memorable learning experience filled with laughter, friendly competition, and plenty of mom-approved fun.

If you’re looking to add a little excitement to your end-of-year review, why not give Homeschool Jeopardy a try? Download your free templates and start planning your game today. Happy learning and congratulations on finishing another  year of homeschool!
